How to

identify an authentic coolicon lampshade?

From its vented gallery design to its iconic silhouette, the one thing that sets an authentic Coolicon lampshade apart is its badge. Found on every Coolicon shade since 1933, the Coolicon badge is aligned by eye and applied by hand; a signature from its maker with merit to their expert craftmanship.

The signature Coolicon badge was a stamp of approval and a welcome sight for the factory workers of industrial Britain - reassurance they were working under the tailored light of a Coolicon lampshade that brought with it ideal working conditions.

Today, only the full 8-sided lozenge shaped Coolicon badge is an accepted mark of a Coolicon shade. A design icon that many people have tried to emulate over decades but never bettered.

"The distinct Coolicon badge continues to be a beacon of originality, just as first applied in 1933."

The Standard badge

Printed using a traditional printing press, onto thick paper stock, the Coolicon badge is our seal of approval. With character rich wrinkles comes authenticity; you now have a Coolicon lampshade like no other. There is a rich history behind the badge that stretches back to the very beginnings of the Coolicon brand in 1933. As such, we maintain the traditional standard of badging in line with the 90 years of Coolicon lampshades and the link to heritage processes that the badges themselves hold. The scale and proportions of our badges have not changed since the beginning of Coolicon history, and for good reason.

The Durafrit badge

Defined by function our Durafrit lampshade departs from the traditional printed paper stock badge to a more refined, real gold badge fired directly into the shade. Designed for wet environments where frequent cleaning may be required, the utility shade needed a badge that would stick to the shade and would hold up against the elements. A first for our enamel lampshades, the Durafrit badge takes Coolicon to new spaces.
